Candy Cane Nog Holiday Matcha Latte + Encha Holiday Gifts (Giveaway too!)

I'm back! Back from a Thanksgiving week trip to Sweden and Iceland. I can't wait to share those adventures with you guys in an upcoming post. But for right now I have one very special holiday tip for you! Matcha.

Matcha is my favorite holiday season escape. I curl up to a minty mug of this beautiful spring green Encha matcha and sink into tranquility for a few minutes.

So today I am sharing a Candy Cane Nog Holiday Matcha Latte recipe, some tips for serving matcha to guests and my favorite holiday gifts from Encha! Oh and a pretty awesome giveaway too..

Amazing Everything Brownies

Chocolate. Sometimes you just need ooey, gooey, rich and fudgy brownies to satisfy your chocolate craving. And it sure doesn't hurt if the said brownies have a few healthy ingredients hidden away beneath the dark layers of oh-my-goodness-yum.

These Amazing Everything Brownies are gluten-free and vegan and totally rad. I love them with an extra drizzle of melted chocolate on top. I nibble them as they come, but really my fave thing to do with these and any brownie is to crumble it up and serve on top of some banana ice cream. Last night I did strawberry 'ice cream' with these brownies.

Oh and yes ok, while everyone else is starting to post giant Thanksgiving recipe round-ups, I am over here with my baking dish 'o brownies. Come say hi.

Rad recipe ahead..

Cranberry Sparkle Loaf

Holiday season baking time. And while I could easily rotate between my two faves: banana and pumpkin loaf all "winter" long, this is another favorite: Cranberry Sparkle Loaf. I adore the zesty, sweet-tart taste and texture of cranberries in a fluffy bread. I add a hint of orange zest and cinnamon too. You could add in some walnuts or pecans if you are feeling nutty.

Oh and I say "winter" because while it is still technically fall here in LA, it is in the 80's and 90's lately -- which is cray-zee. Ack. Bring me fresh snowfall and crackling fireplaces soon, please. Oh and Thanksgiving is so soon! Here is the recipe and what I am feeling thankful for..

Vegan Wild Blueberry Cashew Spread on Crostini with Fresh Basil

This post is sponsored by Wild Blueberries of North America.

Bring on the winter holidays and the festive party season that comes along with it! When I think of the winter holidays I think of twinkly, white lights, crackling fireplaces, the warm hum of laughter and holiday cheer, and a mellow loop of holiday music playing in the background. And when people gather, one thing is certain: food! More specifically, party snacks. So today I share my Vegan Wild Blueberry Cashew Spread on Crostini with Fresh Basil...

Lemon Pepper Kidney Bean Salad

Hooray! My computer came back from the Genius Bar on Sunday so I can finally edit photos again. And today's recipe is one that I make all the time when I am craving BEANS!

Craving beans? What kind of madness is this? I remember my mom making big steamy pots of legumes a lot when I was a kid. Scary big white lima beans, lentils, pinto beans and more. I always wiggled my nose in disgust at the thought of eating beans in such a simplistic way. Just, like, beans.

I always preferred my beans inside of cheesy bean burritos or hidden in a yummy soup or smashed into some gooey nachos, or alongside yummy Mexican red rice and a few spinach enchiladas. But today, I actually do CRAVE beans. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it is because they are a good source of protein, fiber and iron, or maybe I just like them! Whatever it is, I love this super easy Lemon Pepper Kidney Bean Salad and hope you give it a try..

Watch the Before The Flood Film!

My MacBookPro crashed last Friday - busted graphics card - my computer where I do all my photo editing. Soooooo new recipe posts are a big challenge until it returns from the Genius Bar. For now I'm squinting into my tiny screened travel computer. But that's ok because no recipe today. Today we watch a movie! Yup. Movie hour, courtesy of Leo DiCaprio.

Before The Flood is a climate change documentary narrated and produced by Oscar-winner, Leonardo DiCaprio's company Appian Way. You may have heard of him. Directed by Fisher Stevens. While writing this post I have watched and re-watched the film and love it each time - I have found something new on each viewing. The cinematography is gorgeous, despite the depressing subject matter, and the film is packed with interviews, facts and on-site discoveries.

It is no secret that "climate change" gets a lot of bad PR, and many people regard it as a "fake" or "made up" issue. Well whatever your point of view on this topic, please give this beautiful film a look and see how you feel when you walk away. I promise you, you will learn something new!

Ahead, watch the film and learn my favorite moment in the film..
