Event: Santa Rescue 2008, FDNY

Each year, the NYC Fire Department Museum hosts an event called Santa Rescue:

On Sunday, December 14th at 12 noon, in the best traditions of the service, an FDNY ladder truck will bravely rescue Santa from his perilous perch on top of the New York City Fire Museum at 278 Spring Street. Once safely inside, Santa will take gift requests and pose for photos. Hot dogs and hot chocolate available at the Christmas Cafe. Enjoy Christmas Carols from a live band. Children of all ages are invited to attend.

$5 suggested donation for adults. Seniors and students, $2. Kids under 12, $1.

While there, you can check out the museum's amazing collection of fireman artifacts including painted leather buckets, helmets, parade hats and belts, lanterns and tools, pre Civil War hand pumped fire engines, horse drawn vehicles and early motorized apparatus.
