A new study says that a third of all US kids/teens are obese.
The answer, say some? Ban fast food commercials!
Do you agree?
There are a lot of products and messages on television, but that doesn't mean kids buy into them all on unhealthy levels. Should we ban video game commercials too?
My opinion is always that the healthy eating messages must start in the home. Most kids learn their eating habits from their families influence. And clearly two-thirds of kids who are still watching TV are not becoming obese.
Parents need to send out the healthy eating message. This is why books and media influences like The Lunchbox Bunch brand are so important. Start the message young. Teach toddlers to have an affection for fruits and veggies, and when they get older, the fast food propaganda may not be so influential.
Also, lets not just punish the fast food companies. What about the many celebrities who endorse unhealthy foods? Maybe we should hold them responsible for influencing what kids want to eat.
Overall, I do not support a ban. Burger King has the right idea.....and parents need to put their foot down a little more firmly. No ban please.......those fast foodies are crafty...ban them and they will still find a way....
